Well, since my last post a lot has happened. Jim did end up getting into the events in New Zealand and Australia just after my last post. It was a hectic 36 hours. Trying to do all the laundry, make all the arrangements for travel and lodging, and mentally preparing for him to leave.
Jim was really excited about going, especially to New Zealand. He had some nice success there last year and was eager for another opportunity. Things didn't go as he had hoped in New Zealand, but he was making some club changes for the tournament in Australia and had some renewed optimism.
With the time difference it was difficult for any of us in the states to follow the tournaments on the internet. I did, and paid the price for staying up late- almost till 2am each night. The first night was really tough, so of course, I just fell asleep. Jim called as he was going to bed to ask if I'd seen his round. I hadn't seen the end since I went to bed, but told him it looked like he was playing really well and I was proud of him. I woke up real quick when he told me of his record breaking round. We were all so excited!
The rest of the week was very suspenseful. We spent each night on pins and needles waiting to see what would happen. During the final round, a friend of ours who has an international phone plan got a little impatient. He decided to call the Moonah golf course and commission a young man in the pro shop to give him a play-by-play of the playoff hole. Finally we got the heads up that Jim had won the tournament!!!! Yay:) I was such a nervous wreck, too much suspense not being there to see for myself. I ended up waiting almost three hours for Jim to call so I could congratulate him by phone.
We are so proud of you Jim. What a great ending to your trip down-under.
Jim is currently on a trip to Panama and Columbia and will be returning to the states this coming Monday! We are looking forward to traveling as a family:)
