Dad's and Grad's

Jim and I were fortunate enough to celebrate two wonderful events last week. On Friday, June 19th we celebrated the high school graduation of our oldest niece, Dana. We had a great evening, one of the best for the month of June, with NO RAIN!!!! The ceremony was very nice with recognition going to many different types of students. After the ceremony it was off to Dana's Grand mom's house for more celebration. We had a great time! The celebration also included Dana's boyfriend Jared who had graduated earlier that day! We are so proud of their accomplishments and wish them all the best as they go on to further their education.

On Saturday, June 20th, we celebrated Father's Day a little early. It was a special day for the Dad's in our family- a first for Jim (almost) and one filled with all our immediate family! Jim had been pestering me for weeks to find out whether our baby would be a boy or girl. He wasn't able to be present for the ultrasound that gave us that information. So, if he couldn't be with me, I didn't want to know. I had the ultrasound technician put the appropriate color card inside his Father's Day card, and then I waited. I schemed, fibbed, and couldn't stand the suspense while the weeks went by. Finally Father's Day came and Jim opened his card to find a pink tag with a special message inside it. At last, we knew! What a happy Father's Day to learn of "daddy's little girl"!

Sunset in Annapolis

Jim and I spent last week just outside of Washington DC, in Bowie MD. The golf was delayed a day and a half by torrential rain. We enjoyed a rainy Friday of games and movies with our friends the Summerhays, Putnams, and Dickersons at one of their RV buses. On Saturday, our cousins the McClennens came to watch the 2nd round. We certainly enjoyed their company and support! Once the clouds parted the sun sure did shine. Saturday night was just gorgeous. The wonderful couple we stayed with suggested we all go to Annapolis for the evening. What a great idea! We roamed the streets of the busy downtown area before heading to the water. Just a few dollars will buy you a ride on the water taxi. Our destination was just a short ride across the inlet. We dined at Carrol's Creek and had a wonderful meal. Afterward was a trip to Kilwin's Ice Cream for some summer goodness. We had a wonderful time with Sam and Darcie and will enjoy their company again!
